Last summer, while I was in Siciliy for summer, my hosting expired because I've forgotten to renew it Luckily it was just the hosting, while my domain romanovian.com was already paied for another couple of months. Bytheway, That fact made me think about a total restyling of the site, the old one was too messy, I wanted a site clean, simple, fast.

On the old site I tried Adsense, but it was useless, this blog it's not so popular, so I decided to not putting Adsense on the new blog. But… I collected few bucks on my account so I decided to put again Adsense on my blog, just to earn enough to enable the fund transfer from the Adsense account.

So… sorry for the annoyance of the banner, they're just temporary !

I was curious about jQueryMobile framework and mobile frameworks, so I wanted to see how much programming in this way would be fast and simple.

Well, I'm a web developer, I feel more comfortable writing

Javascript, instead of Java or Object-C. And it's also handier, for me, building interfaces in HTML and CSS (even if it's not that fast), manipulating DOM with javascript , so my learning curve was just a little slope.

And with Phonegap, bulding an app for a mobile device, is then really really fast! So, my first project is an Android app with thousands of quotes, if you want to try it you can download it here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.yellowhouse.everydayquotes , it's free. I'd appreciate any comment or feedback!

jQuery minislider

I've totally rewritten an old jQuery plugin I made some months ago, it was called jQuery miniscroller. Code now is better, cleaner, simpler, but I wanted to cut off some feature like the vertical sliding to keep it as simple as possible. The good part is that I've added a cool feature like the "monitor", a list of "bullets" showing the current sliding item.

Here is a screenshot of a demo:

I recently had to add some minor features to an old web site that was developed by an ex collegue of mine. I knew the web site was some years old and I know he was not the best developer of the world…. but what I’ve found exceeds the worst of my nightmares!

I can’t even imagine why someone would ever write such an idiot piece of code (I’ve replaced the links text with OMISSIS):

Javascript animated scroller monitoring tool

This video shows a work I've done for an important customer. Other than a simple scroller you can see how I implemented a monitoring tool that let you know how many items the scroller contains and which ones you're currently seeing. The video is a zoom on the monitoring tool, so the scroller is not entirely showed.

LombardiaSociale.it is the last site I’ve programmed.

It’s been a nice job because it gave me so much experience with customization of WordPress, as many features requested by the customer were not always applicable with existent plugins, so I had to study a little about the core mechanisms of WordPress. For example, I’m quite proud of my “Related post” function: it has a ranking algorithm that considers : the tags, the author and the date of the post.

A big thanks to Hiroaki Miyashita, author of Custom Field Template, because I heavily used his wonderful plugin.
